What's So Good About the Morning?

Gail Vicente

June 28 - July 16, 2012

Gallery 4

Gail Vicente opens an exhibition of photographs, dioramas and objects at West Gallery on Thursday June 28, 2012.

The exhibition explores the simple activities of the commonplace; the ability and inability to engage in the things we normally do. It is about existence, conflict, patterns, transitions and other experiences that threaten and nourish our daily living. What is this blind force? It is exactly what it is – blind with no probable determination, only a force that drives us to exist in the endless preoccupations of our day to day lives. “What’s so good about the morning?” is a reply to the usual “Good morning” greeting, it alludes to the morning after a night of heavy drinking, going to bed late and having to wake up early; to chores, wakefulness, vice, employment and so on.
